- Home Yoga Practice Questions: Do I Need a Home Practice if I'm Regularly Going to Yoga Class?
by Kara-Leah Grant, author of Forty Days of Yoga It's easy when you regularly go to yoga classes to dismiss the idea of home yoga practice - after all, you don't need it right? You're already practicing in class 2 or 3 or maybe even 5 or 6 times a week.…

Whats the difference between a crazy person and a yogi?
The yogi knows not to listen to the voices in their head!
Hey David,
Ha! Having been both, I’d say yes, that’s absolutely true.
🙂

Your videoblog today was just what I needed to hear. Thanks for having the courage to share your experience. Namaste.
Hey Claire,
My pleasure – and thanks for taking the time to comment. Great to get feedback.
Many blessings,
KL
Another little pearl –
Hatha yoga is the most dangerous form of yoga – because there is the tendency to get sidetracked by the ego! 🙂
Hey David,
Not sure what this one means exactly… that we think we’re practicing yoga when really we’re just doing gymnastics?
KL
I mean hatha yoga has a tendency for the ego to be thinking “I am getting better”, “I want to be able to do this asana”, “if only I could complete the primary series”, “I have been to Mysore more than that person”, “I want to be a yoga teacher”, “I love the way my new lulumelon yoga pants look when I’m doing downward dog” LOL.
Remember hatha yoga was hardly mentioned (if at all) in the original yoga scriptures. The ego gets very focused on one’s asana practice – but its a great entry point for most people. Keep up all the good sharing 🙂 Thanks for all your sharing.
Hey David,
Ah… thanks for clarifying! I guess whatever practice we’re doing, the way we’re doing it reflects where we are right now, even as the practice itself changes where it is that we’re at…
Hi Kara-Leah,
can totally relate to this. Could you please share the meditation?
thanks!!
Hey Sashakti,
Here’s a link that describes the meditation, and also has a sound file. I haven’t listened to the audio, so I can’t vouch for it, but the written description looks accurate. It suggests a minimum start time of 15 minutes, I was only doing 11 minutes each day.

I just discovered this article – I’d like to share it with you

Thanks David… had a quick read through. Struggled somewhat, got the gist of what it was saying though.
Cheers,
KL
The article is about yoga giving you that ‘breath taking’ experience when time stands still. An experience when you are no longer evaluating, comparing, counting, etc.
🙂
David
Thank you for sharing this, Kara-Leah.
I tried the Drib Dhristi Lochina Karma Kriya last night, and I had a really intense dream that really talked to me about expressing my feelings.
My pleasure Bettina. Are you planning to do a 40 Day Sadhana? KL
Kara-Leah,
Thanks for your support!
I usually mediate every day, but usually either yoga nidra or a breath awareness meditation.
I’ll be integrating the Drib Dhristi Lochina Karma Kriya every so often–it’s a little too powerful for me.
Or do you think that would render all benefits null? I don’t know much about kundalini-style yoga practices, much less kriyas.
Hey Bettina,
I don’t know enough to give a definite answer… my inclination is always to trust my intuition, but beware of the tricksiness of the ego.
Yes, tricky ego…I know about that one.
