I’m interested in Yoga. Do you know if it helps with detoxification? I’ve heard that heated/hot yoga is really good. I guess the breathing techniques used for yoga help cleanse and detox the body?

      Hi Sue,

Thanks for getting in touch. It depends on what you are specifically interested in detoxing from, for example do you want to detox from difficult emotions, stress, food, drugs? Or do you want to detox a specific body part, like the liver or kidneys?)

In general though I would that yes, yoga can definitely help to detox the body from toxic substances, be they physical, chemical, spiritual or emotional, and there are many ways within the Yoga traditions to do so. Finding a good Yoga teacher and working with them would be the best way to learn more about how it could help with detoxification for you.

Kara-Leah has written an article about Yoga as a ‘detox diet’ and how it can help in relation to weight loss. You can read that article here: https://theyogalunchbox.co.nz/the-best-detox-diet-you-can-ever-do/

      Hope that helps,

      Lucinda
