Is Wordle a Yogic practice?

June 8, 2022 by Veronica King Leave a Comment

Minds bright spark. Brief Bliss. Faith. Have you been bitten by the wordle bug yet? I sure have. How does this simple five letter puzzle have anything to do with yoga?  As a student of Tantra Yoga I choose to look for the experience of yoga in my daily life. Every moment, every interaction is an opportunity to practice the teachings, to apply them to the world. Wordle is no different in this regard. It's now part of my daily practice and I love it. It's deceptively simple yet … [Read more...]

On Ahimsa, Self-Reflection & Being a Dick

September 19, 2019 by Guest Author Leave a Comment

by Nicole Allan, Raw Yoga Yoga, like most things, was and is heavily influenced by the humans who learn it, teach it and live it. Over my years of learning, practicing and sharing yoga I believe that one of the most important things we can do, whether through yoga or ordinary everyday life, is to strive to be better humans. I believe this betterment happens through regular self-reflection. The amount of times I have been a complete dick in my life is hard to handle, let alone swallow. … [Read more...]

This is What Happened When I Combined Yoga with the KonMari Method

August 24, 2017 by Lucinda Staniland Leave a Comment

It was simple, it was sincere—very sincere, in fact—and it was practical too. Maybe, just maybe, I thought, this little book might be offering something true. Maybe, just maybe, tidying up might just turn out to be as life-changing as it … [Read more...]

Exploring the Niyamas: Using tapas to burn through our shit

March 29, 2013 by Kara-Leah Grant 7 Comments

by Kara-Leah Grant Oh God do I need to cultivate tapas right now. Or I am cultivating it. Or the cultivation of it is serving me. Or something. I'm over-whelmed, emotional, stressed out and just want to get off this damn computer and go sit under a tree. (Notice the shift from Wednesday's post on self-realisation? Welcome to duality people!) It's two days until book launch and I have a mountain of things to do but I'm staying with family and also want to see them and I have a … [Read more...]

Exploring the Niyamas: How does Saucha affect our lives?

Water represent Saucha (purity)

by Kara-Leah Grant Over two years ago I made a commitment to live out each yama in my life and write about the experience. That series Applying the Yamas to Daily Life has been cornerstone content for The Yoga Lunchbox and has also been published in Asana Journal. Now, at the prompting of my editor at Asana, I've embarked on the same mission for the Niyamas. Every few weeks, I'm picking one niyama and studying it plus observing how it shows up in my life. For those new to yoga, the … [Read more...]
