Recently, this video from Equinox has been floating around the web.
Love it or hate it, it made me laugh. At myself.
You see, this is not what I look like in the AM practicing yoga. And, I like practicing in the morning, but i’m all kinds of. . . well, you’ll see.
I just thought I’d give it to you straight.
I also teach yoga, I’ve been practicing forever, and I’m really happy with my practice.
I wanted to share it so that you could see that yoga. . . yoga is yours. And it’s mine. And Briony’s too.

Really, it’s individual. All of us are different, and all of our practices are special, beautiful, and amazing. And human. And possibly funny.
So, I put it out to some of my yoga-teacher buddies near and far, and asked them to join me. Only one was able to meet the deadline so that we could get this to you, but we wanted to continue what Equinox and Briohny started.
Lets show other beautiful, personal practices. And funny practices. And whatever happens in the video is what happens. No staging, just waking up and doing yoga.
Here we go: Me first!

Ahh, life with a 3 yr old! Bliss. Ever-changing, hilarious bliss.
Now, my buddy Nadine Fawell from Australia!

Now, she says she actually sleeps in her undies, but that she’s not quite ready to take her relationship with the internet to that level. So, she decided to be a bit more modest in this instance, and that’s ok. She also killed me on the editing job, no? Rock on, Nadine!
And Nadine’s boyfriend, rock on with the hoppin’ dancers pose!
I don’t know about you, but I love watching other people practice — I love the diversity and the beauty therein. I love how people will wiggle and breathe and find their way. I love how we are all so different — in our bodies, in our homes, in our lives, and in our practices — and yet it’s so unified.
How about you? Want to join us? Film your practice and post it. Link it. Let us see you, in all your morning glory. If anyone’s bold enough to do so… we’ll share the videos on a future YLB post, and maybe even dig up some kind of prize package too. Just saying. 🙂

Wonderful, Jenifer! my husband (the household yogi) and I really enjoyed your video! Nadine’s, too!
As beautiful as Briohny’s practice is, I really dislike the Equinox video because it is so blatantly using sexual imagery to sell.

haha i love these! Jennifer i have a nearly 4-yr old son and I was in stitches watching your vid – i share a similar experience quite often. Loved how he kept falling off and getting back on, and you just kept calmly carrying on. Inspiring x

Hi, I thought the Equinox video was absolutely beautiful. I do my morning practice in my undies as well, neither my body or my practice resembles hers in the slightest, but who cares, lets all just lighten up.
I just loved the other videos as well.

I love the Equinox video – so inspiring! I have a still from it now on my desktop background to remind me that my butt should be on my mat not my desk chair 😉
I’ve done my morning video – just need to figure out how to get it onto Youtube!

I don’t sleep in tracksuit pants, but I always throw them on straight away in the morning and this is my standard yoga pyjamas outfit.

Hey Diane,
Awesome to see! Love how you make the most of the space in your kitchen like that… shows how there’s always room to do yoga!

There is! But that is literally the only space in our flat I could do yoga, unless I move furniture. And I can’t reach my arms to the sides if I’m lying down!
In my dream house I’m having a permanent yoga/meditation space where my mat will always be there waiting for me.
