Excellent. I agree with author’s reasons for weight loss through yoga.

Hey Shiva,
Me too – I’ve really noticed my awareness and mindfulness shifting enormously since practicing regularly. Food just tastes different now! Toffee pops don’t taste good after one or two, and I crave things like spinach. Who’d have thought?
Blessings,
KL

always the bottom (bottom’s ?) line (as i learned after many decades of misinformation) :
“if your dietary intake is greater than your activity output, you will gain weight. And you’ve guessed it – the only way to lose weight is to eat less or to be more active, or better still, do both….”
but “getting” to that intake / output point is what’s the challenge –
i didn’t get to a “mindful” state via yoga, or via any of the many fitness activities i still enjoy, even now that i’ve “resumed” yoga beyond my small decade long home practice (it was tiny, but regular 😉 )
but i did develop a mindfulness for other reasons, so the “mindfullness” is still the key, and yoga is definitely enhancing the work i started with myself regarding my weight a few years back
i’m slowly working on an article where i articulate “my” experience, but as jude says, eating/appetite is complex, so, as so much with me 😉 it’s a process…
nice job on the article, already waiting for part 2! and am passing this one along already!
thank you
adan
ps – had to mention, loved this part :
“learn..about yourself. Is the breath supporting the pose; are you feeling energized or drained; should you soften more or move closer to your edge; is there discomfort anywhere, and if so, is it a good or a bad feeling?”
such great attentiveness to what many of us need to be attentive about!

Yeah, people want an easy way to weight loss (magic pill, magic food) but as you’ve said, it ain’t easy. It’s hard work just like it’s hard work being yogic off the mat. So take the focus off weight loss and just work on that instead. Everything else will fall into place. It’s do-able, but you gotta stay present and put in the hard yakka! jude

oh, so dumb of me (in a funny way of course 😉
just noticed the date of the article – so much for “my” mindfulness!
the good thing is, of course, i don’t have to wait for part 2! here i go….
