There is a joy and a playfulness within a Prana Flow yoga class that makes the heart open and the soul soar.
Music, mantra, mudra (hand positions), asana (postures), pranayama (breath work) and meditation merge to create a journey away from separateness and into unity.
Fears are faced, emotions are released, thought patterns are changed and the body is opened.
This is not yoga as we know it. It is not a static stretch of the body. It is not something we do because we have to.
This is a coming together of the tribe to worship the delightfulness of life, of being alive, of love and of being loved.
Existing in this space for twelve hours a day, five days in a row, surrounded by people on the same wave length… was absolute heaven.
The interaction between us all, as led and modelled by our teacher Twee Merrigan, was open, thoughtful, compassionate and passionate.
We listened more than we spoke – although there was plenty of talking.
We laughed more than we cried – although there were plenty of tears.
We appreciated the other, while feeling our similarities and celebrating our differences.
Here was a space where authenticity ruled. Where power came from within. Where life was seen as sacred, precious, joyful.
And amongst all of this, we learned – how to structure a class, how to thread a theme throughout using music and language, how to build toward a peak pose, how to play and how to create.
And over five days, we each become more alive, more vibrant, more awake.
On our final afternoon, we climbed Mt Vic and set in the sun gazing out over Wellington.
Twee asked us all:
“Now that you’re awake, what are you going to do with it?”
What indeed?
Teach.
Share.
Love.
Listen.
Share.
Appreciate.
Laugh.
And maybe love some more 🙂
Blessings…
…to all those who shared the teacher training with me
…to all those who shared the open classes
…to my amazing and beautiful teacher Twee
…and to those people coming to my classes and giving me the opportunity to share my joy and love of Prana Flow with them.
Let yoga fill your life with love and joy!
