The site author

The Yoga Lunchbox site author Kara-Leah Grant

I love yoga, and I love writing. These two passion have intertwined, along with the power of the web, to create The Yoga Lunchbox.

Yoga has transformed my body – a spinal fusion at age 16 meant by the age of 25 I was living in daily, chronic pain. My right foot was half numb. I walked with a limp. I couldn’t bend forward and touch my knees, let alone my toes. Sciatic pain was always there, and I couldn’t even sleep on my right side.

Now, that numbness is all gone in my foot. I don’t experience sciatic pain anymore. I can touch my toes and move in ways I never thought would be possible. And I can sleep anyway I like.

Yoga has also transformed me mentally and emotionally – at age 29 I experienced a mental & emotional breakdown, was diagnosed bi-polar and spent time in a psych ward. My yoga practice helped me to understand what had happened to me from a holistic viewpoint, and gave me the tools to heal from the inside out.

Both of these extraordinary journeys have taught me much about how our bodies and minds function together, and it’s yoga that has brought me back to a place of wholeness.

It’s that power of yoga that I want to bring to other people through this website.

Yoga continues to play a huge part of my daily life, and I write about this in my regular column, Musings from the Mat.

I’m currently on a break from teaching yoga, as I’ve just had my first baby, but am looking forward to again teaching when the time is right. Until then, I’m always available to answer questions through this site.

In Love & Light,

Kara-Leah
