Now’s the time! Click to Pledge.

by Kara-Leah Grant

Yes, it’s time folk. The PledgeMe Best of Yoga Lunchbox Book campaign launched this morning. Actually. It’s launching in three days – I’m writing this on Wednesday afternoon. I’ve just spent the afternoon filming the video for the campaign with MYOGA creatix and Ear2Earth columnist Melissa Billington.

It was… exciting and nerve-wracking all wrapped up into one. I can’t imagine how I’m feeling now, as in, Saturday morning, because the campaign’s just gone live… Time to pledge!

As Melissa said before we started filming, this is an ambitious project. Her comment stopped me in my tracks for a moment. Ambitious? Like unrealistic and hard to achieve? Really? That’s not how it feels to me.

Publishing a book feels like the natural progression of a journey I’ve been on for years, and that this website, and this community has been on for four years.

Together, we written 500 articles. We’ve looked at more than 500,000 pages. We’ve written 2000 comments and we’ve shared stories of struggles, difficulties, joys, and transformations, all wrapped around yoga, one way or another.

Many of those articles are unseen, lost in the back pages of the archives. This book will help bring them back into the light, so they can be shared with a wider audience.

Plus there’s a really important story that we’ve been sharing and reading all these years on The Yoga Lunchbox.

It’s a story of the power of presence, the power of aligning yourself to what is, the power of speaking your truth and learning to listen to the guidance that lives within.

Now, more than any other time, we need to remind ourselves of this. We need to remind other people of this. Yoga is a means to connect to Self, and this book is a medium to carry that message. It’s a way to introduce new people to yoga, and it’s power to transform lives. It’s a way to find tips and tricks to help you build a daily yoga practice. And it’s a way to explore all that yoga means, beyond the common understanding of asana.

If you the community decide this project is worthwhile, and step up to make the Pledges so we can reach (and exceed) our mimuum total of $20,000, I will feel honoured to do the best damn job I can in creating an incredible book.

Not just a collection of articles, but an inspirational story that weaves together all of the threads of transformation, in such a way to make yoga, and all it can promise, accessible to your average person.

My feeling is that this book – the sum of all the best articles – will be much great than it’s parts. And they’ve been pretty damn great!

Before I get the opportunity to work my editorial magic on the best articles, I need your support.
