Kara-Leah, YLB publisher, editor, web designer, sales manager, retail manager, business development manager, admin & accounts... oh, & model
I finally gotta admit it.
I can’t keep doing this website all on my lonesome.
I need help taking The Yoga Lunchbox to the next level – which means there’s an awesome opportunity here for a yoga-minded, tech-savy, online business guru with a passion for serving the yoga community.
The Yoga Lunchbox has been steadily growing over the last year, evolving out of my own personal yoga blog, Prana Flow NZ, into NZ’s premier online magazine.
No longer just my take on ‘life lived through a yoga lens’, the website now includes Yoga Teacher Profiles, Yoga and Meditation downloads, advertising opportunities for yoga businesses, a yoga studio & class directory, a Facebook page, competitions & giveaways, regular contributions from guest authors, plus all the ins & outs of running a larger and larger website.
As the website grows, I see more and more ways to deliver a better experience to my readers, and have less and less time to actually make it happen.
I’m playing Publisher, Editor, Web Designer, Sales Manager, Retail Manager, Business Development Manager, Admin & Accounts and I don’t think I’m doing any of these jobs well – or at least as well as I’d like to and as well as I’m capable.
This year I’ve launched affiliate links, downloads, advertising and Super Subscribers as I work to develop a viable business model – which is crucial for the long-term existence of the website. While there is a trickle of money flowing, it’s only about $100 a week in total so far. That’s not enough to pay me, let alone hire people to help me out. Plus in an effort to generate revenue, I have less time to write great articles, and that’s where the real juice is!
I know The Yoga Lunchbox has huge potential, and it needs an injection of enthusiasm, energy, expertise and cash to get it there. Taking on a business partner would let me focus on the aspects of the website that I’m best at – things like content, connection and community. And being able to focus 100% on content, connection and community means I could do a much better job and make this the best yoga magazine in the world.
So it’s time for me to find someone who’s passionate about yoga, is business-minded, and has some serious experience with online publishing. For the right person, this website is an awesome, as-yet-untapped, business opportunity.
The Yoga Lunchbox is packed full of great content – there’s some 300 original articles on the website. Those articles could be packaged and sold as e-books, or old-fashioned pick ‘em up and turn the page books. Generating consistently great content is one of my talents, and it’s what makes this website stand out in the yoga website crowd. No articles-by-numbers, or recycled content here.
There is a wonderful community of yoga students and teachers who are connected to the website, either as subscribers, readers or regular contributors. Traffic is growing steadily, and has almost doubled in the last year. The Yoga Lunchbox has good name recognition in the New Zealand yoga community, and now with my recent trip to LA, is starting to make itself known more in the USA.
The site itself is woefully under-monetized, and could do with some serious cleaning-up and a revamp to properly showcase all that great content. The download shop needs an over-haul, and some serious promotion. The advertising is undersold, undervalued and under-exposed. Super Subscribers need some love, and subscribers need encouragement to step up and become Super Subscribers.
So I’m putting the call out.
There’s an opportunity here at The Yoga Lunchbox.
I’m open to selling a percentage of the website to the right person – someone who’s got the skills and know-how to complement my own skills, and someone who can see the greater vision and help make it happen.
If you’re interested, or you know someone who might be, send me an email or give me a call and we can talk collaboration, cooperation and taking The Yoga Lunchbox to the next level.
Oh, one more asset this website has – me. Like the site, I’m going from strength to strength too. Invest in the website, and you’re investing in me

You are not wrong, KL – you rock out fantastic content and are a gifted connector. I’ll spread the word in my networks that you need a money-flow maestro to join your team. I feel sure someone will see the potential.
Hey Marianne,
You rock babe – thanks for helping get the word out.
