My absolute favourite asana/meditation is to do shavasana, the corpse pose, for 10-15 minutes. I just lie down on my back, let my feet and arms flop out, and just Be for a little while. I just let my thoughts and feelings Be too, without reacting to them. This is always enough for me to get re-centered and re-energised, and it’s something that I don’t talk myself out of because it seems to be more like rest than actual ‘work’.
You are so right – it’s one of the best things about a home yoga practice, having the time to do a really long savasana.

KL
I typed a long comment, it didn’t go through
My yoga teacher once said “it doesn’t matter WHAT you choose to meditate on, as long as it’s something you really like.” This helped reduce my interest in all the things I “should” be meditating on. So I had a few great weeks of 30 minutes meditation before bed, every night (third eye + OM vibration focus). It did wonders for my sleep and mood, until a bit too much socializing took over. Thanks for the inspiration to restart!
Hey Scout,
I hate it when you lose a comment like that
Great advice from your teacher – before bed is often a great time to meditate, especially if you’re just starting out (and even when you’re not!).
