Congratulations! I am so impressed you went back and finished it. And what a gorgeous story of awakening / surrender.

I am reading Gabriel Cousens’ Spiritual Nutrition now, and the way you describe anger rising and passing reminded me of this bit: “When the Kundalini is awakened, it also acts as an internal healing force by raising the energy level of the SOEFs (subtle organizing energy fields). When the healthy SOEF pattern is raised to a more integrated and pure level, entropy-producing, negative, dissonant thought forms and emotions are forced out. They seem to come up into consciousness and are released.”

I was always curious why Kripalu changed their style of yoga. I had heard it was spontaneous and prana-driven, but when I finally took a class I was told it was a set sequence.

Thanks again for the story, I just ordered Don Stapleton’s book!

    Hey Scout,

Fascinated stuff! I have definitely noticed more “negative” emotions like anger arising, whereas before they were likely repressed. For awhile though, I was reacting to them, instead of being able to witness their arising and release.

Don’s book is fantastic, loving it. Another good one also written by a former Kripalu teacher (and with further perspective on what happened there) is Stephan Cope’s book (mentioned in the article also).

    Thanks for stopping by :)

thank you for sharing. I came across this Kriya and was looking for someone who journaled their experiences. I am only on day 3 and have noticed physical changes thus far. I am so excited to have something profoundly change me for the better. I feel with my currect situations I have been so negative on the inside – or is it my negative feelings creating my current situations. I have read about changing your thoughts so you do not think such negative things but I can seem to figure out how to do this. I am hoping this Kriya will help me with this so I can start enjoying the little things in life again. Thank you for sharing

  4. Hey Lauren,

Great to hear you’ve just started this kriya – it is such a fascinating journey. Not always easy, but something I would definitely do again because it had such profound results.

    Good luck, and many blessings,
    KL
